Scuba Diving in Sri Lanka

Scuba diving in Sri Lanka should not be missed as it can provide great experience that you will remember all your life.

Scuba diving in Sri Lanka is considered as one of the popular sports and it can be enjoyed round the year in Srilanka as it is surrounded by deep warm blue sea water and shining sun. You can find many places with fully grown coral reefs and sea life around it. You can find many diving centers and diving schools along with Certified Sri Lankan Diving professionals who have PADI Certificates in most of the beaches. These scuba diving centers are located near to the beach resorts which are made to offer the visiting foreign divers with relaxing mood in the evenings and beautiful night entertainment till the morning.

Most of the Diving spots are located in the South and East costs of Sri Lanka. There are coral reefs, ship wrecks and archeological sites and many more, which you can explore easily in comfort if you are a professional diver. As for now, all diving spots must be reached by motorized boats within the reach of 15 minutes to 45 minutes run from the small docks on shore. Most of the boat runs are done in the morning when the climate is good.

Individual to group of 15 can be accommodated in these boats that used to take them to the diving spots. All the life saving equipments, oxygen and communication facility to the shore is available on board, that used to take you for a diving tour. Diving instructor and the diving guides are available in the club houses or hotels where you stay.

If you want you can bring all your diving equipments from your home along with you, or you can rent diving equipment at Sri Lanka's famous diving centers around the costal stations.

From November to April Sri Lanka's Western coast offers you calm weather with bright sun light for you to proceed with your scuba diving tour. Namely Negombo, Beruwala, Bentota, Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, Weligama and Tangalle are the most famous stations for Diving experience. In the months of April to November, you can visit to Sri Lanka's Eastern zone to find Trincomalee's Nilaveli, Uppuveli and Batticalo for a safe diving or under water hunting.

As for Ship wrecks there are more than 15 located including H.M.S.Hermes and S.S.Rangoon, around Sri Lanka waters, which you can dive to see yourself.
