There are private homes, Bungalows, Villas, Apartments, Guest houses and hostels all over Sri Lanka and specially in Colombo and the popular tourist destinations.

Prices may vary according to the facility you want. There are rooms with full A/C and with separate entrance, private balcony and so on.

You can select them near to the beach or within the populated areas. Before you want to book any of them check whether they are approved by the Sri Lanka tourist board as a certified accommodation for tourists.

If you are visiting Mannar or Jaffna you can find good places for to stay but most of them don't have proper certificates as there is some lacking from the process. You can find them through the local newspaper advertisements.

Like wise you can find good bungalows and villas around the Eastern province that are operated by foreigners most of them come from Germany and Switzerland. You can get fully furnished houses too for rent with servant to look after your needs. These houses have good A/C rooms, bath rooms, living room with LED TV, DVD players and music system with Italian cushion chairs and ample car park. Cars, vans, Prado type SUV and motorbikes too you can hire from them on a daily basis or monthly basis.

If you want to select these kinds of accommodation as tourist don't carry valuable jewellery and plenty of foreign currencies with you as it may attract thieves eyes on you. Once you had landed here get a local SIM and insert it in your phone and inform about the new phone number to your family and friends and office. Also when you are staying in remote areas don't stay out side in the late hours.
