Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is one of the greatest events in the world. This spectacular festival with street parade, samba music and dance takes place every year around the month of February.

Parade of decorated floats which are organized by "scolas" with each school parade includes more than 4,000 participants dressed in traditional fine looking dresses and to the music of more than 300 percussionists. Each group is given 90 minutes of parade time from on end to the other end, while judges will select the best float and present them with the cash price. The participants in this event include dancing and singing children, beautiful dancing women along with muscular young men dancing to the samba music all night. The event takes place each year just before "Lent" that is seven Sundays before the Easter Sunday. As this is not a fixed one, so from February till March, Carnival dates may vary. In this period the roads, squares and night clubs are filled with joyous people and music. Every corner a you can see a music band or group playing and people dancing. Drinks and food are served on the road side restaurants and joints. Large hotels, restaurants clubs offer their own carnival gala, balls and their own programs. The carnival used to be televised all over the Brazil live.

Rio Carnival 2018 starts on February 09th Friday. 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th February are the main parade Dates. 13th February is the final date.

Closes on Tuesday 17th February 2018 after Champion Parade.

Tickets prices used to start from US$ 27 and can go up to US$ 410 that will give give extra services and facilities. Street parades are free to join by any visitor. On a typical parade day nearly 2 million people used to gather in the parade grounds and around the surrounding streets.
